The Sesostris Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund is the primary source of funding for Lincoln-area children and their families to cover costs associated with traveling to and from Shriners Hospitals
The Sesostris Hospital Transportation Fund is the primary source of funding for Lincoln-area to provides transportation to and from Shriner's Hospitals for Children locations, hotels for overnight stays, and meals during these trips for our patients and their families at little or no cost to the family.
Ever wonder about those guys you see driving the funny looking vehicles with the red, upside down flower pots on their heads? That hat is known as a Fez and it is a symbol of the pride, commitment and caring demonstrated by local Shriners, who are members of this Masonic philanthropy.
Based in Lincoln, Sesostris Shrine is the local chapter affiliated with Shriners Hospitals for Children. The hospital system was founded in 1929 to help fight polio. There are now 22 locations across the United States, Canada and Mexico, all dedicated to providing medical care to children, regardless of their ability to pay. Doctors specialize in treating the following health conditions: burns, orthopedic deficiencies, scoliosis, brittle bones, cleft lip and palate and spinal cord injuries.
Through your generous Give to Lincoln Day gift, you will be providing much needed funds to help transport children and their families to and from Shriners hospitals. Money raised for the Sesostris Hospital Transportation Fund helps provide gas, lodging, meals and maintenance on vehicles. Consider the following facts when you make your donation:
Sesostris serves 380 patients under the age of 18 in and around Lincoln, Columbus & Norfolk
In the past year alone, Sesostris covered costs associated with more than 125 trips to and from Shrine hospitals
Sesostris spent more than $141,000 to make those trips happen
Local patients receive treatment in hospitals located in Minneapolis/St. Paul, St. Louis and Chicago
